2% Thoriated Tungsten Electrodes 175mm(3.2mm)

2% Thoriated Tungsten Electrodes are a type of tungsten electrode that users commonly use in Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding. They are made by adding 1.8% to 2.2% thorium oxide to tungsten, which enhances the electrode’s electron emission qualities and high-temperature resistance.

In 2% Thoriated Tungsten Electrodes 175mm(3.2mm), the “175mm” refers to the length of the electrode, which is 175 millimeters or approximately 7 inches long. The “3.2mm” refers to the diameter of the electrode, which is 3.2 millimeters or approximately 0.125 inches thick.

Thoriated tungsten electrodes are often used for welding steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium, among other materials. They have good arc stability, excellent weldability, and a high current carrying capacity. However, some countries have restricted the use of thoriated tungsten electrodes due to the potential health risks associated with the radioactive thorium oxide used in their production. Alternative non-radioactive tungsten electrode formulations are now available for TIG welding applications.
