The Ferro Nickel Welding Electrodes are MMA/Arc welding electrodes with a high nickel content, designed for welding & reinforcing cast iron, modular cast iron & cast iron steel assemblies e.g. crankcases, cylinder heads, engine blocks, cast iron repairs, etc. It has excellent mechanical properties, is highly resistant to cracking, and is perfectly suited to work on old cast iron.
Ferro Nickel Welding Electrodes:
Ferro Nickel welding electrodes are specialized electrodes used primarily for welding cast iron and joining cast iron to steel. These electrodes are composed of a nickel-iron alloy that provides excellent strength, ductility, and machinability, making them ideal for repairing cracks and defects in cast iron components. Ferro Nickel electrodes produce a soft, easily machinable weld deposit, which reduces the risk of cracking and allows for smooth, clean welds. They are particularly useful in applications requiring high resistance to thermal cycling and where precision and reliability are critical.
Features of Ferro Nickel Welding Electrodes:
- These are great for repair and fabrication
- Ideal for automotive, restoration, casting repair, marine, and chemical work.
- The finished weld can be extremely strong and full penetration is easy to achieve, the resulting weld is easily machinable and can be very attractive.
- These rods are designed to be used with a -VE (negative) electrode holder when used with DC or they can be used with an AC output.
- These will work with any good quality DC inverter welder with an open circuit voltage of around 60V or higher or any standard AC welder.

Uses of Cast iron Ferro nickel welding electrodes:
Ferro nickel welding electrodes are widely used in various applications due to their unique properties and benefits. Here are some key uses:
Welding Cast Iron:
Ferro nickel electrodes are ideal for welding cast iron materials. They provide strong, durable welds that are less prone to cracking, making them suitable for repairing cast iron components.
Joining Dissimilar Metals:
These electrodes are effective in joining dissimilar metals, such as cast iron to steel. The nickel content in the electrode helps to accommodate the differences in thermal expansion rates between the metals, reducing the likelihood of weld failures.
Maintenance and Repair:
Due to their versatility, ferro nickel welding electrodes are commonly used in maintenance and repair operations. They are particularly useful for fixing worn or damaged parts in machinery and industrial equipment.
Corrosion Resistance:
The nickel in the electrodes provides excellent resistance to corrosion, making them suitable for applications where the welded parts are exposed to harsh environments or corrosive substances.
Machinability:
Welds made with ferro nickel electrodes are typically easy to machine, which is beneficial for applications requiring post-weld machining to achieve precise dimensions or surface finishes.
Heat Resistance:
These electrodes can withstand high temperatures, making them suitable for applications involving heat-exposed components, such as exhaust systems and heat exchangers.
Welding can damage the consumables and thus they need to be changed over time. Lincweld offers high-quality, original MIG and TIG consumables at the best prices. However, make sure you do welding with precision and care!
